Ministry of Land and Automotive Industry Discuss 'Pedal Black Box Installation' After Sicheong Station Accident

The government and the automotive industry discussed the installation of pedal black boxes in vehicles for the first time since the reverse driving accident at City Hall Station.

According to the industry on the 15th, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport held a meeting on the 12th with key domestic automakers such as Hyundai Motor and Kia, some imported car companies including Mercedes-Benz Korea, the Korea Automobile Mobility Industry Association (KAMA), and the Korea Automobile Importers & Distributors Association (KAIDA) to discuss the installation of pedal black boxes.


Although no conclusion was reached regarding the installation of pedal black boxes at this meeting, it was decided to continue holding future meetings.


The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport has held seven meetings with manufacturers and others since November last year to exchange opinions on the issue of installing pedal black boxes.
