"Politics is a Means for the Community"
Melania Trump, wife of former President Donald Trump who was injured after being shot during an outdoor campaign event, strongly condemned the perpetrator as a 'monster' and emphasized a message of 'unity' on the 14th (local time), a day after the incident.
In a statement released that day, Melania said, "When I saw the bullet pass by my husband, I realized that my life and my son Barron's life were on the brink of fatal damage," and expressed her gratitude to the security authorities.
She criticized, "The monster who perceived my husband as an inhuman political machine tried to silence Trump's passion," adding, "His true human qualities were buried in politics."
Melania extended her condolences to the victims and families who were killed or injured at the scene and emphasized unity.
She said, "Let us not forget that differences of opinion or political games do not measure up to love," and added, "American politics is merely a means to bring our community together." She further stressed, "Regardless of left or right, let us not forget that we are members of a community fighting together for a better life," and emphasized, "We must unite again."
Melania will attend the Republican National Convention held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, from the 15th to the 18th. At this event, former President Trump will be officially nominated as the Republican presidential candidate.
