Cheongso Administration Department's Ha Dae-Young Wins Best Award for 'Improvement of Waste Wood Disposal Method'... Geumcheon-gu Selects 7 Outstanding Public Officials

Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that it has selected seven individuals who actively and creatively carried out their duties and achieved results as the ‘Outstanding Public Officials for Proactive Administration in the First Half of 2024.’

The district has been selecting outstanding cases of proactive administration every year since 2021 to spread a culture of active work within the organization and to recognize employees who have achieved results through such work as outstanding public officials.

This year, the district introduced a new ‘team’ category for cases where results were achieved through collaboration among multiple department members and team members.

The district selected 10 cases by combining resident and employee evaluations (20%) and judging panel evaluations (80%) from 16 outstanding cases recommended by each department. The evaluation criteria included residents’ perceived impact, the proactiveness, creativity, and expertise of the person in charge, the importance and difficulty of the task, and the potential for dissemination. Subsequently, the Proactive Administration Committee selected the final five outstanding cases.

The grand prize was awarded to Deputy Officer Ha Dae-young of the Cleaning Administration Division for improving the disposal method of large-sized waste wood.

Deputy Officer Ha improved the disposal method of waste wood as the market value of eco-friendly renewable energy resources such as solid waste fuel increased due to the mandatory supply system for renewable energy.

Through proactive market research, he signed an agreement to sell waste wood, which was previously processed for a fee, to recycling companies at a price of 20,000 KRW per ton. The district is able to save about 103 million KRW annually by selling 2,700 tons of waste wood and reduce carbon emissions by 4,000 tons.

The excellence awards were given to Team Leader Kim Seon-bae and Deputy Officer Yoon Seon-hwa of the Housing Maintenance Division (for laying the groundwork for the opening of an east-west connecting road linked to the housing redevelopment project) and Deputy Officer Kim So-seon of the Park and Greenery Division (for patent registration of a smart dredging system and implementation of a pilot project). The encouragement awards were given to Deputy Officers Kim Gyu-tae and Lee Sang-ji of the Resident Safety Division (for the Resident Safety Insurance that guarantees coverage for any Geumcheon-gu resident in case of injury) and Deputy Officer Kim Jin-a of the Senior and Disabled Persons Division (for diversified support projects to improve convenience for the disabled).

The selected outstanding public officials for proactive administration will receive incentives such as bonuses, performance pay, welfare points, and reward leave according to preferential grade standards.

Mayor Yu Seong-hoon stated, “We will continue to do our best to break away from conventional work methods and foster a culture of proactive administration that residents can feel and employees can empathize with.”
