On the 25th at Kumho Art Hall Yonsei

'Queen Elizabeth Victory' Baritone Kim Tae-han Presents 'The Poet's Love'

Kim Tae-han plans to present familiar and easy-to-listen music centered on his beloved German Lieder. Starting with Beethoven's song cycle "An die ferne Geliebte" (To the Distant Beloved), he will sing six songs by Clara Wieck Schumann and Robert Schumann's song cycle "Dichterliebe" (A Poet's Love).

Beethoven's "An die ferne Geliebte" is known as the first German song cycle. Clara Schumann's song collection is a work that best expresses the composer's unique lyricism, and Robert Schumann's "Dichterliebe" is regarded as a masterpiece and a representative work of the song cycle genre.

Baritone Kim Tae-han was the youngest winner and the first Asian male to win the vocal category at last year's Queen Elizabeth Competition. He also attracted global attention by winning the Rolex Audience Award at the Pl?cido Domingo Operalia International Competition held in Cape Town, South Africa.

Kim Tae-han debuted with the 2022 Kumho Young Artist Concert. He showed early promise by winning the Shinhan Music Award in 2018 and gained recognition by placing second in the 2021 JoongAng Music Competition, the Korean Vocalists Association International Vocal Competition, the Korean Vocal Competition, and winning second place and the Korean Art Song Award at the 2022 Gwangju Vocal Competition, among other prestigious domestic contests. In 2022, he expanded his presence on the world stage by receiving special prizes at the Spain Tenor Vi?as International Vocal Competition, the Brian Dickie Young Artist Special Award at the Neue Stimmen International Vocal Competition in Germany, and a scholarship at the Riccardo Zandonai International Vocal Competition in Italy.

Kim Tae-han graduated at the top of his class from Seoul National University College of Music after attending Sunhwa Arts High School, studying under Na Gun-yong. He is currently studying under Eva Bollack and Klaus H?ger in the master's program at the Hans Eisler Hochschule f?r Musik in Berlin. He completed the National Opera Company Opera Studio training course and is currently active as a young artist at the Berlin Staatsoper Opera Studio.

The Kumho Rising Star concert series at Kumho Art Hall began in 2004 and has introduced over 80 rising stars to date. Past performers who have graced the Kumho Rising Star stage include violinists Lee Ji-hye, Lee Ji-yoon, Yang In-mo; pianists Kim Da-sol, Kim Sun-wook, Kim Tae-hyung, Sunwoo Yekwon; flutist Cho Sung-hyun; oboist Ham Kyung; and clarinetist Kim Han.
