FMD and Others: Jjuyang, Former Representative Threatened Over Weakness
"Received Malicious Report and Informed Agency"
After Receiving Money from Jjuyang's Side, Distributed YouTuber Sponsorship Funds
YouTuber 'Gujeyeok' clarified the controversy surrounding his alleged extortion of 55 million KRW from YouTuber 'Jjuyang' by stating that it was "a fee for protecting Jjuyang's past" and promised, "I will return the entire amount received as a service fee." Gujeyeok claimed that he acted as a 'double spy' to prevent other YouTubers from exposing Jjuyang's past and received activity expenses for this role.
On the 12th, Gujeyeok posted on his YouTube channel community, saying, "Once again, I deeply apologize for failing to protect Jjuyang's right to be forgotten and for paying donations to YouTubers to stop videos exposing Jjuyang."
So-called 'cyber wreckers,' including Gujeyeok, who profit from views on expos? videos, tried to extort large sums by exploiting the fact that Jjuyang was allegedly assaulted and threatened by her former CEO as a weakness.
Regarding how he received money from Jjuyang, Gujeyeok said, "Around February last year, I received an anonymous tip about Jjuyang from someone presumed to be her former agency CEO." He added, "The tip was defamatory against Jjuyang, and the supporting evidence was very detailed." According to Gujeyeok, the tip included claims that Jjuyang had worked in the nightlife industry in the past, was involved in school violence, forged official documents, and abused small business owners.
Gujeyeok stated, "Because the supporting evidence was so detailed, I informed Jjuyang's agency to verify the facts," and "I also learned that Jjuyang was being threatened by the person presumed to be her former agency CEO. Unfortunately, since the tip was anonymous, I could not reveal the tipster's identity and therefore could not proceed with a lawsuit against the former CEO."
In response, Jjuyang's agency requested that the tipster's identity be identified and asked if the exposure of the content could be prevented. Gujeyeok explained, "The problematic recording (with YouTuber Jeon Gukjin) occurred during the process of building relationships with YouTubers who had negative feelings toward Jjuyang to obtain information about the tipster," and "In fact, all the tipster's identity information obtained during that process was handed over to Jjuyang's agency."
Gujeyeok said, "However, since the tip content had already spread widely, I had no choice but to give donations to those YouTubers to discourage them from producing videos exposing Jjuyang," adding, "I initially paid the donations out of my own pocket, but as the number of YouTubers demanding donations on the condition of not producing videos increased exponentially, it became difficult to handle with my own funds, so I requested support from Jjuyang's agency to stop the production of videos."
He continued, "Although the donations were fees received for the work of protecting Jjuyang's past, I have not properly fulfilled this duty, so I will return the entire amount I received from Jjuyang as soon as possible."
