"Tzyang, Recently Feeling Lethargic and Struggling... Gaseyeon Releases Recording Without Permission"

"Agreed to Testify on Damage Facts to Prevent Misunderstandings and Speculations"

YouTuber Jjuyang has been reported to be in a very distressed and lethargic state after it was revealed that she had suffered assault, threats, and financial extortion from her ex-boyfriend A over the past four years.

Jjuyang's legal representative, Attorney Kim Taeyeon, appeared on YTN NewsFM's 'Wise Radio Life' on the 12th and stated, "Since the broadcast, Jjuyang has been so lethargic that it has been difficult even to contact her. She is going through a very tough time," adding, "Because so many people are showing interest, it has become an overwhelming situation."

On the 10th, the Garosero Research Institute (Gaseyeon) released a recording of a phone call from February last year between Karakula and Gujeokyeok, members of the so-called 'Rekka Alliance,' which includes YouTubers Gujeokyeok, Jeon Gukjin, and Karakula. They claimed that this alliance had threatened Jjuyang and extorted money from her. Subsequently, Jjuyang confessed that she had been subjected to assault, extortion, and threats by her ex-boyfriend A, who was also the CEO of her agency, and that she was even forced to work at entertainment establishments during this period.

Attorney Kim stated that Gaseyeon did not seek confirmation or consent from Jjuyang's side before releasing the recordings. He explained, "The recordings were made public without prior consultation, excluding Jjuyang's position. There were some discrepancies between the speculations made on the broadcast and the actual facts, and since Jjuyang is a public figure who needed to clarify, she decided to testify about the victimization to prevent misunderstandings or unfounded assumptions."

Initially, Jjuyang had no intention of filing a complaint against A, but after meeting Attorney Kim to revise the exclusive contract she had with A, she changed her mind. It was during the process of Kim asking why the contract was disadvantageous to Jjuyang that he learned about the victimization.

Attorney Kim said, "An agency staff member came anonymously to proceed with the contract revision without revealing that it was about Jjuyang. They judged that such a disadvantageous contract for the artist was unacceptable, and during the discussion, I found out it was about Jjuyang." He added, "While explaining why such an unfair contract had to continue for years, I gradually learned that Jjuyang had suffered (assault and threats)."

Regarding the level of assault Jjuyang endured from A, Attorney Kim said, "It was not just assault; there were also cases of rape and sexual crimes." He noted, "The parts disclosed on YouTube were only a small portion and not of the highest severity. The disclosed content was of a typical level." Concerning the revelations that some YouTubers attempted to extort money from Jjuyang, he said, "There is no plan to respond yet," and added, "We intend to organize our position and provide further statements in the future."
