Sweet and Chewy 'Gokseong Heukchal Corn' Perfect Summer Snack
‘Gokseong Mall,’ an online shopping mall in Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do, is holding a special event titled ‘Unstoppable Chewy Texture, Gokseong Black Glutinous Corn Up to 30% Discount’ for three weeks from July 10 to 31.
Through this event, consumers can purchase two types of corn?fresh corn and frozen corn?at affordable prices.
The fresh corn is harvested on the day the order is placed, carefully cleaned while leaving the inner husk intact, and then delivered to customers.
The frozen corn is boiled in a traditional cauldron on the day of harvest and then rapidly frozen at minus 40 degrees Celsius before delivery.
When cooked using a steamer or microwave, you can enjoy the chewy and glutinous taste of black glutinous corn as if it were freshly steamed.
An official from the county said, “Black glutinous corn is perfect as a convenient summer snack during the hot weather and vacation season,” adding, “We hope you enjoy black glutinous corn at up to 30% off through this special event.”
Meanwhile, Gokseong-gun, with its abundant sunlight and large temperature differences between day and night, provides an optimal environment for corn cultivation. Only in Samgi-myeon and Osan-myeon, 155 farms cultivate black glutinous corn over an area of 44 hectares.
Compared to regular corn, Gokseong black glutinous corn boasts a uniquely chewy texture and rich nutty flavor, with a popping and tender bite.
Once tasted, it becomes a favorite, making it a popular healthy summer snack.
