Gurye-gun Designates 13 Unregistered Senior Centers as Elderly Rest Areas

Ordinance Amendment to Support Grain and Other Supplies at Places Providing School Meals

Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 11th that it designated 13 unregistered senior centers as Elderly Rest Centers and delivered plaques.

At the plaque delivery ceremony, County Governor Kim Soon-ho handed over the plaques, checked on the health and well-being of the elderly, and listened to various opinions including inconveniences.

An Elderly Rest Center (unregistered senior center) refers to a small-scale community facility that functions as a senior center but does not meet the facility or membership criteria and therefore does not receive support from the county.

In March of this year, the government held a public discussion forum under the theme of "Healthy and Happy Old Age" and announced measures for a happy old age based on this content.

Following the government announcement, Gurye-gun conducted a full survey of unregistered senior centers in welfare blind spots, and decided to designate 13 of them as Elderly Rest Centers to provide administrative and financial support.

The county revised the ordinance in June to support heating and cooling costs (actual expenses) and equipment (heating and cooling devices) during summer and winter for unregistered senior centers, and to provide rice and other supplies to places where meals can be served.

Governor Kim Soon-ho said, "Gurye's elderly welfare must carefully embrace every single elderly person," and added, "We will provide generous support so that the elderly who have devoted their lives to the development of the nation and local community can spend their later years healthier and more comfortably."
