Parked a Car on the Road, Then Brought an Outlet to 'Charge'

Turns Out They Pulled Charging Cable to Charge Vehicle

A witness account is spreading that a driver who stopped their vehicle on a right-turn lane near an intersection was charging an electric car.

Parked a Car on the Road, Then Brought an Outlet to 'Charge'

On the 11th, a post titled "Why do you charge (park) an electric car on the corner of an intersection?" was uploaded to an online community. The author, Mr. A, said, "I witnessed this situation at an intersection in Godeok, Pyeongtaek," and shared photos taken at the time.

In the photos posted by Mr. A, a Mercedes-Benz electric car is seen stopped in the right-turn lane at the corner of the intersection. A long electric vehicle charging cable is stretched under the car. Moreover, a fire hydrant is located nearby, confirming that parking is prohibited in this lane.

Mr. A stated, "The driver cleverly avoids the 'No Parking Zone for Firefighting Facilities (red curb)' and stops the vehicle to charge," adding, "This area is also a school zone. Parking like that makes right turns difficult."

Mr. A also claimed that this was not the first time the vehicle caused annoyance by charging at this location continuously. He said, "If you look at the road view, the electric vehicle charging cable is draped over the road fence in that section, left in a state ready for use at any time," and added, "The car parks there intermittently, not just today. I've never seen a driver like this before."

He warned, "The driver should publicly apologize and quickly remove the charging cable," and mentioned, "Some advised me to report it whenever I see it, but since this is the corner of an intersection and the car is cleverly parked, I have to take photos and report it at intervals of at least 10 minutes. It's difficult to report during the busy morning commute. So today, I reported it to the police." He added, "If there are people who do not consider illegal acts as illegal, I will continue to report them."

Netizens who read the story responded with comments such as "This person has no sense," "Unplug the charging cable," "What kind of mindset does someone have to behave like this?" "This person should be studied," "There are all kinds of people," "I don't understand why there are so many selfish people," and "What if people walking on the sidewalk get hurt by tripping over the charging cable?"
