Yeongdeok County to Foster Wellness Professionals... Multilateral Business Agreement Signed

Gun-Dankook University-Korean Medicine Association Join Ministry of Education Innovation Talent Development Project

Yeongdeok County in North Gyeongsang Province signed a business agreement with Dankook University Biohealth Innovation Convergence University Project Group and the Association of Korean Medicine on the afternoon of the 11th at 2 p.m. at the Yulgok Memorial Library on Dankook University's Cheonan Campus, to foster professional talent for the wellness industry and to develop suitable educational programs.

Yeongdeok County to Foster Wellness Professionals... Multilateral Business Agreement Signed Yeongdeok County, Dankook University College of Biohealth Innovation Convergence Project Group, and the Korean Medical Association are holding an MOU signing ceremony.

The signing ceremony was attended by Kim Kwangyeol, Mayor of Yeongdeok County; Lee Taeho, Head of the Wellness Tourism Business Division at the Culture and Tourism Foundation; Kim Jangmook, Head of the Dankook University Biohealth Innovation Convergence University Project Group; Jung Yooong, Senior Vice President of the Association of Korean Medicine; and representatives from seven universities participating in the Innovation Convergence University Project Group.


The main points of the agreement include: ▲Joint participation in educational programs for fostering wellness talent and educational development ▲Expansion of wellness information sharing and human exchanges ▲Expansion of infrastructure and material exchanges between institutions ▲Cooperation for the development of related fields at each institution.


By institution, Yeongdeok County will cooperate in securing wellness-specialized professors and establishing an international academy education center; the Association of Korean Medicine will form a faculty specializing in Korean medicine and wellness; and the Innovation Convergence University Project Group will develop and operate specialized wellness curricula and support educational facilities, all through mutual cooperation.


Kim Jangmook stated, "As interest in stress management and quality of life improvement grows in modern society, the need for wellness programs is becoming increasingly apparent. Through inter-institutional cooperation, we will strive to develop joint educational programs and establish a system for nurturing outstanding talent in the biohealth field."


Through this agreement, Yeongdeok County is evaluated to have established the foundation for fostering professional wellness talent by becoming the first local government to participate in the Ministry of Education's 'Advanced Field Innovation Convergence University Project.'


Mayor Kim Kwangyeol commented, "I have high expectations as we become the first local government to participate in the Ministry of Education's project to nurture 100,000 innovative talents through this agreement," and added, "Since this is an international talent development education project in collaboration with an Indian university, we will fulfill our responsibilities with even greater sense of duty."


The Advanced Field Innovation Convergence University Project is led by the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea, aiming to foster 100,000 practical talents in advanced fields by 2026. This year, Dankook University is serving as the lead university for the Biohealth Innovation Convergence University Consortium, receiving 12 billion KRW in project funding and nurturing talent in the biohealth field together with Hongik University, Sangmyung University, Daejeon University, Woosong University, Dong-Eui University, and Wonkwang Health Science University.
