Customer Who Ordered Delivery Food Suddenly Demands Refund
"Vegetable Wraps Are Completely Wilted," Delivery Driver Testifies
A story has emerged about a customer who suddenly demanded a refund three days after ordering delivery food, claiming "it smells bad."
On the 11th, a post titled "Refund for 3-day-old food" was uploaded to an online community. The author, Mr. A, who works as a delivery driver, said, "I was shocked when I visited the customer's house to collect the food after receiving a request."
Mr. A explained the situation, saying, "The request I received from the delivery company was to collect the food and 'dispose of it ourselves.' When I visited the customer's house, they said, 'My grandmother said it smells bad and can't eat it,' and handed me the delivery food." The customer had ordered 44,000 won worth of samgyeopsal and naengmyeon.
The problem was the date the delivery food was ordered. Mr. A went to collect the food on the 11th, but the order was placed around 8 p.m. on the 8th. The food that the customer claimed "smelled bad" and requested a refund for was three days old. Upon checking the food, Mr. A said, "The vegetable wraps were completely wilted, and some were even rotten," and added, "I called the restaurant to confirm if the receipt was incorrect, but they confirmed the order was indeed placed on the 8th," expressing his mixed feelings.
Mr. A lamented, "The restaurant owner didn't even know the food had been collected," and said, "Accepting all these (black consumer) requests only makes society more problematic."
Netizens who heard the news responded with comments such as "This is the worst of the worst," "Of course it smells bad after three days," "It would be stranger if it didn't smell," "Leaving naengmyeon out for three days is a bit much, even if samgyeopsal is understandable," "Are self-employed people and delivery drivers servants?" "Because of people like that, it's really hard to provide relief to those who are truly harmed," and "What a real troublemaker."
Meanwhile, as more people use delivery applications (apps), the number of black consumers who retaliate with low ratings or request refunds is increasing. On the 1st, a customer who requested a refund claiming "a toothpick was found in the chicken" had their food collected and inspected, revealing that the toothpick was one not used by the restaurant. On the 9th of last month, a story surfaced about a customer demanding a full refund after finishing their meal, claiming "there was a quail egg shell," which sparked controversy.
