NATO Recognizes South Korea's Military Aircraft Safety Certification Capability as Asia's First

Expectations for Strengthening Defense Industry Cooperation between Korea and NATO

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) has recognized South Korea's military aircraft safety certification capability for the first time among Asian countries.

The Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) announced on the 12th that it held a signing ceremony for the military aircraft 'airworthiness certification recognition' with NATO on the 9th (local time) in Washington DC, USA. Administrator Seok Jong-geon and NATO Airworthiness Committee Chairman Giorgio Choni attended.

NATO Recognizes South Korea's Military Aircraft Safety Certification Capability as Asia's First President Yoon Suk-yeol and Jens Stoltenberg, Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), are holding the 'Airworthiness Certification Recognition' signed between Korea and NATO, the first Asian country to do so, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington DC, USA, where the NATO 75th Anniversary Summit was held on the 11th (local time), posing for a commemorative photo.

Airworthiness certification is a system in which the government verifies and certifies the flight safety of aircraft.

DAPA expects that defense industry cooperation between the two sides will be further strengthened as NATO recognizes South Korea's military aircraft airworthiness certification.

Earlier, President Yoon Suk-yeol met with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on the 11th (local time) in Washington DC during the NATO summit and said, "I am pleased to receive certification of our aircraft's airworthiness capability from NATO to ensure mutual military interoperability."
