U.S. President Joe Biden faced embarrassment due to a slip of the tongue during a press conference, which former President Donald Trump did not miss as an opportunity to attack.

According to major foreign media including The Guardian, during a solo press conference held in Washington D.C. on the 11th (local time), President Biden was asked whether Vice President Kamala Harris, if she were to run as a presidential candidate, could defeat former President Trump. He responded, "If I thought she was not qualified to be president, I would not have chosen Trump as vice president."

When President Biden confused Vice President Harris's name with Trump, former President Trump mocked him on his social media platform Truth Social, saying, "Great job, Joe!" He also posted videos capturing Biden's slip of the tongue during the press conference, sarcastically commenting that "Crooked Joe is showing 'Trump Derangement Syndrome.'"

In response, President Biden fired back on his X (formerly Twitter), saying, "I know the difference between the two (Vice President Harris and former President Trump)," adding, "One is a prosecutor, and the other is a felon."

The solo press conference held that day was seen as a turning point for President Biden, who faced pressure to resign after a crushing defeat in the last presidential debate, aiming to dispel concerns about his advanced age risk and reverse public opinion. However, just before the press conference, at an event related to Ukraine held in Washington, Biden made a slip of the tongue, saying, "I want to give this moment to the Ukrainian president who has as much courage as decisiveness. Please welcome President Putin."

CNN described Biden's slip as "a critical moment occurring amid growing political pressure demanding the presidential candidate's resignation," noting that it "will further fuel debates about Biden's cognitive decline."

Meanwhile, as global media focused intensely on President Biden's press conference and subsequent slips of the tongue, it was reported that Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, canceled his scheduled press conference.
