Flowers were delivered to the Seocheon Statue of Peace, located in Bomui Village, Seocheon County, Chungnam Province.

This flower delivery was conducted as part of a preliminary campaign for the Japanese Military Comfort Women Memorial Day, which will be held on August 14.

Participants in the flower delivery included Choi Mija, President of the Chungnam Multicultural Families Association, Kim Yongbin, Representative of the Seocheon Love Citizen Group, Lee Gangseon, Seocheon County Council Member, and Yoo Seungkwang, former candidate for Seocheon County Governor.

President Choi said, "Through the 'Flowers in Memory' delivery campaign, it pains me even more that those women are passing away without receiving an apology, one by one." She added, "I hope that through this event, more people will remember and stand with history."

She continued, "I also hope that migrant women will take this opportunity to learn more about the history as members of Korean society."

The Seocheon Statue of Peace was unveiled in January 2017 by the Seocheon Statue of Peace Construction Promotion Committee (co-chaired by Yang Geumbong, Park Byeongmun, and Yoo Seungkwang) to pray for the restoration of human rights and peace for the victims of the Japanese military comfort women system.

The project was carried out to inform future generations in the Seocheon area about the issue of Japanese military comfort women and to create a "site for historical education" to ensure such history is never repeated.

The construction of the Statue of Peace was made possible through voluntary fundraising by the promotion committee, the Seocheon High School Student Union, the Seocheon branch of the Korean Teachers and Education Workers Union, and local residents.
