"Bruises and Bandage Wounds on Arm?"... Tzuyang's Past Broadcast Scene Revisited

Revisiting the Wounded Appearance During Past Broadcasts

Popular mukbang (eating broadcast) YouTuber Jjuyang, who has nearly 10 million subscribers, confessed that she suffered from assault and exploitation by her ex-boyfriend for four years, drawing attention to her past broadcasts. Viewers often noticed bruises on various parts of her body during her live streams.

On the 11th, photos from Jjuyang's past mukbang broadcasts were shared on online communities. Netizens focused on the bruises on her wrist and other body parts. There were also images showing her wearing a large white bandage around her arm.

When these signs were first noticed, Jjuyang's fans assumed they were injuries from cooking or daily activities. However, claims have emerged suggesting these were actually wounds from assaults by her ex-boyfriend.

Seeing these, netizens sent messages of support to Jjuyang. Comments included, "The bruises on her arm were from assault," "She must have gone through so much pain," "I never knew because she always showed a bright side," and "I hope she won't get hurt anymore."

Meanwhile, in the early hours of the day, Jjuyang held a live broadcast titled "I Will Tell Everything" on her YouTube channel. In the video, she revealed that she was a victim of illegal filming, threats, and assault by her ex-boyfriend Mr. A, whom she dated four years ago. She also said that a significant portion of her early broadcast earnings was extorted by him.

Jjuyang stated, "When I said I wanted to quit, he threatened to tell my family. He assaulted me with objects like an umbrella. He hit my body because my face showed signs. I even broadcasted after being hit in the face. All the money I earned when I first started broadcasting was taken by him."

At the end of the broadcast, lawyers Kim Taeyeon and Kim Kibae from Taeyeon Law Office appeared and revealed photos as evidence of Jjuyang’s assault. They said, "We filed a criminal complaint on charges including sexual assault, habitual assault, habitual threats, habitual injury, extortion (including attempted), coercion (including attempted), and obscenity using communication media. There are over 3,000 recorded evidences and extensive photographic evidence."

However, after Mr. A died by suicide during the lawsuit process, the case was ultimately closed due to lack of prosecution and non-prosecution. Lawyer Kim Taeyeon explained, "The unpaid settlement amount Jjuyang did not receive is at least 4 billion KRW. When the lawsuit proceeded, much of the money had already been used by Mr. A at his discretion, so the remaining amount did not reach the unpaid settlement. Still, she was able to receive at least some of the settlement money."
