No Yeonhong, chairman of the Medical Reform Special Committee (Medical Reform Special Committee), announced this during the opening remarks of the 5th meeting held on the morning of the 11th at the Government Seoul Office in Jongno-gu, Seoul.
Chairman No said, "The 'restructuring of tertiary hospitals to establish a sustainable medical care system' to be discussed at today's meeting is a meaningful first step to concretize reform tasks," adding, "I hope that attempts to innovate the overall workforce structure, compensation system, and delivery system so that tertiary hospitals can focus on their core functions of severe patient care and research, cooperate symbiotically with local clinics and hospitals, and serve as hubs that properly lead training will lead to the normalization of the medical system."
Measures to strengthen the medical accident safety net and innovate the medical dispute mediation system will also be discussed. He said, "The medical dispute mediation system is an alternative dispute resolution system introduced in 2012 after long social discussions to break away from the exhausting medical dispute practices relying on litigation," and added, "As it marks 12 years since its implementation, we intend to revisit the original purpose and seek innovative alternatives to further solidify the current system."
