On the 10th, Ahn Hyeong-ju, a member of the Gwangju Metropolitan City Seo-gu Council, announced that he received the 'Best Council Member Award' in the individual category, the only one from Gwangju and Jeonnam, at the 18th Korea Legislative Awards held the previous day at KINTEX in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province.
The Korea Public Autonomy Research Institute hosts the Korea Legislative Awards, selecting recipients through a three-stage process: first document screening, second interview evaluation, and third final review, based on four evaluation criteria?individual achievements, work execution ability, policy coordination skills, and capacity development?covering legislative activities of metropolitan and local councils nationwide.
Ahn, who was one of only five nationwide to receive the Best Council Member Award, was recognized for his substantial legislative activities, including solving community issues based on communication, preparing policies to protect youth and vulnerable groups, researching future tasks to promote carbon neutrality policies, and strengthening capabilities to address local welfare problems.
Ahn expressed his gratitude and sense of heavy responsibility upon receiving the valuable award, stating, “I will continue to listen carefully and gather opinions so that the will of Seo-gu residents is properly reflected in district administration, believing that ‘the answer lies at the field center,’ and strive for the development of Seo-gu.”
