Galaxy Buds 3 Series Unveiled at Unpacked on the 10th
Design Shift from Bean Shape to Bean Sprout Shape
Improved Sound Quality and Support for Active Noise Cancelling
Samsung Electronics' wireless earphones, the 'Galaxy Buds3 series,' abandon the bean-shaped design featured in previous Buds series and come out with a bean sprout shape. Equipped with artificial intelligence (AI), they offer new experiences such as real-time voice translation and voice commands.
At 3 p.m. local time on the 10th, Samsung Electronics held the 'Galaxy Unpacked 2024' event at Carrousel du Louvre in Paris, France, unveiling the 'Galaxy Buds3 Pro' and 'Galaxy Buds3.' Both products are released in a bean sprout shape with an earphone stem called a 'blade.'
The difference between the Galaxy Buds3 and Galaxy Buds3 Pro lies in the fit. The Galaxy Buds3 features an open-type design, while the Pro model offers a kernel-type fit that snugly fits the ear canal. The 'blade' of the Buds3 Pro includes a light. By placing a finger on the blade and swiping down or up, users can adjust the volume.
The Galaxy Buds3 series can use real-time voice translation when connected to the 'Galaxy Z Fold6' and 'Galaxy Z Flip6,' which were also unveiled that day. When a reporter wore the Pro model, opened the translation app, and said "Annyeonghaseyo," the 'Galaxy Z Flip6' played the English voice "Hello." When the other party said "Hello, Nice to see you," the earphones played the Korean voice "Annyeonghaseyo, bangapseumnida." The translation app supports a total of 16 languages, including English, Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Thai, and Spanish.
The voice command feature is also equipped, allowing the earphones to recognize words like 'play music' or 'answer call' and operate the phone accordingly.
The Buds3 series provides optimized sound quality and Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) by analyzing internal and external sounds and the user's wearing status in real time. It even analyzes whether the user is wearing the wireless earphones loosely or snugly. The Pro model also includes 'noise control optimization,' 'conversation detection,' and 'siren detection' features. For example, when passing a construction site while listening to music, ANC is increased; when a siren is detected or the user starts a conversation, ANC is lowered.
Call quality has also been improved. Using a machine learning model, the speaker's voice is restored in noisy environments, and high-quality calls are supported through the 'Super Wideband Call' feature.
For the Pro model, hardware enhancements increase audio immersion. A 'planar tweeter' capable of stable high-frequency band reproduction is newly applied to the '2Way' speaker, doubling the playback range. The 2Way speaker divides the speaker units to reproduce high and mid-low frequencies separately. A dual amplifier system, used in premium audio devices, is also installed. Samsung Electronics' proprietary Bluetooth audio codec 'SSC' supports ultra-high-quality audio at 24-bit 96kHz.
The Buds3 series will be available in two colors: Silver and White. The Galaxy Buds3 Pro is priced at 319,000 KRW, and the Galaxy Buds3 at 219,000 KRW. Immediately after the Unpacked event, from midnight on the 11th, early bird live broadcasts for the two products will be held on Samsung.com and major open markets.
The official pre-sale will be conducted from the 12th to the 18th through online open markets such as Samsung.com, as well as offline stores including Samsung Store and Hi-Mart.
