Groundbreaking Ceremony for Busan Filming Studio on the 18th
A large-scale film and video shooting set will be established in Jangan-eup, Gijang-gun, Busan. The Busan Filming Studio broke ground in May.
Korean Film Council The Korean Film Council held a groundbreaking ceremony on the 18th to officially start construction. The site area is 258,152㎡, and the total floor area is 12,631㎡. It will include three indoor studios (approximately 3,311 pyeong, 2,146 pyeong, and 1,485 pyeong), an artwork facility for props and set production, production support facilities, and open studios.
The total construction cost, including land acquisition and construction expenses, is about 100 billion KRW. The expected completion date is September 2026. The Korean Film Council introduced the project as "expected to become the only comprehensive film and video shooting studio in Korea with both indoor and open studios."
The Korean Film Council received building permits in December last year. They immediately requested the Public Procurement Service to select construction companies and signed contracts with firms specializing in architecture, electrical work, telecommunications, and fire safety. More than half of the five companies are Busan-based enterprises. The Korean Film Council stated, "We expect this to greatly contribute to the economic revitalization of the Busan and Gyeongnam regions."
The groundbreaking ceremony will be held to express gratitude to related organizations and Busan citizens who have supported and encouraged the project. Attendees are expected to include Yoo In-chon, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Park Hyung-joon, Mayor of Busan; Jeong Jong-bok, Mayor of Gijang-gun; Yang Yun-ho, Korean Film Council Commissioner; Kim Jong-jin, Chairman of the Korean Film Directors Association; and Min Kyu-dong, President of the Korean Film Directors Guild.
