NYT "Parkinson Specialist Visits White House 8 Times"…White House "Biden Not Receiving Treatment"

A Parkinson's disease specialist from Walter Reed Military Medical Center, who is in charge of U.S. President Joe Biden, visited the White House eight times over eight months starting from July last year, according to reports on the 8th (local time). The White House dismissed suspicions, stating that President Biden has never received treatment for Parkinson's disease.

The New York Times (NYT) reported, based on White House access records, that Kevin Cannard, a neurologist affiliated with Walter Reed, made these visits to the White House.

Cannard is a neurologist who has worked at Walter Reed Medical Center for 20 years and is an expert in Parkinson's disease. Earlier, the New York Post and The Guardian reported that in January this year, Cannard met at the White House with cardiologist John E. Atwood and another individual, along with President Biden's personal physician Kevin O'Connor.

The NYT stated, "The meeting between Cannard and the president's personal physician took place about a month before President Biden's regular checkup on February 28," adding, "It is unclear whether Cannard visited the White House to collaborate on presidential matters or for unrelated meetings."

Additionally, the NYT claimed that neurologists have identified symptoms consistent with Parkinson's disease or related disorders in President Biden's public appearances. However, the specialists emphasized that a specific diagnosis cannot be made without a direct examination.

Cannard's side did not respond to NYT's inquiries.

White House spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre stated that thousands of military personnel, including various experts, visit the White House to provide medical care on site, and reiterated that President Biden has never been treated for Parkinson's disease.

Spokesperson Jean-Pierre said, "President Biden has undergone three regular health checkups and met with neurologists each time," confirming, "We confirm that President Biden has met with neurologists only three times."

She also said, "To reiterate, no signs of Parkinson's, stroke, multiple sclerosis, or any other such conditions were found during the president's health examinations," and dismissed the suspicions by stating, "President Biden has not received treatment for Parkinson's and is not taking Parkinson's medication."

When asked whether there are plans to conduct a separate neurological examination to quell concerns about President Biden's cognitive abilities, she replied, "Experts believe it is unnecessary," adding, "The president's daily work proves that he does not require cognitive testing."

Since the presidential candidate TV debate with former President Donald Trump on the 27th of last month, suspicions about President Biden's cognitive abilities have been raised. In response, voices both inside and outside the Democratic Party have questioned Biden's ability to perform his duties and called for his resignation.
