Market research firm Counterpoint Research has projected that Samsung Electronics' Galaxy Z6 Flip and Fold series will see sales increase by about 30% compared to their predecessors.

In a report released on the 9th, Counterpoint Research made this prediction and forecasted that Samsung could reclaim the top spot in the global foldable market in the second half of the year.

According to the firm's first-quarter survey, among the 3.1 million foldable phones shipped worldwide in Q1, Huawei took first place for the first time with a 35% market share, surpassing Samsung Electronics.

Counterpoint Research also projected that Samsung's foldable smartphone sales will grow at an average annual rate of 18% until 2028, capturing a 35% share of the global market.

Analyst Park Jin-seok added, "Recent AI technology trends show a tendency to strengthen connectivity with peripheral devices or within the same brand, so Samsung is expected to enhance linkage with related devices in addition to existing AI functions."

However, the firm predicted that foldable devices will maintain a low single-digit market share within the overall smartphone market until 2028.

It also anticipated that "multimodal AI experiences will play an important role in expanding the usability of foldable devices."

Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics is scheduled to hold a 'Galaxy Unpacked' event in Paris, France, on the 10th (local time) to unveil the Galaxy Z6 Flip and Fold series.
