Park Dongsik, Sacheon Mayor, Conducts On-site Inspection of Disaster-prone Areas in Summer Season

321 Locations Including Landslide-Prone Areas, Steep Slopes, Reservoirs, and Rivers

Sacheon City in Gyeongnam Province announced on the 9th that it will make an all-out effort until October to protect the lives and property of citizens from natural disasters such as heavy summer rains and typhoons.

With the start of the monsoon season, the city has established a Disaster Safety Headquarters and will conduct weekly inspections until October at 321 locations, including landslide-prone areas, steep slopes, reservoirs, and rivers that are at risk of causing casualties.

Mayor Dongsik Park is conducting an on-site inspection of areas affected by heavy summer rains, typhoons, and natural disasters.

Additionally, two river access points, thirteen Sewolgyo bridges, and four coastal facilities will be preemptively controlled in advance according to weather advisories.

Furthermore, in coastal lowlands, flood-prone areas, and landslide risk zones, residents will be promptly evacuated in advance if any signs of danger are detected.

In particular, the city will appoint members of the voluntary disaster prevention team and local leaders as on-site managers for areas at risk of casualties. They will patrol frequently according to weather advisories and take immediate control measures if dangerous areas are found.

On this day, Mayor Park Dongsik conducted on-site inspections of disaster-prone areas such as the Ucheon Forest Water Playground, Donggye Drainage Pump Station, and the Chojun Drainage Improvement Project to prepare for natural disasters like heavy summer rains and typhoons. He also thoroughly checked disaster response measures for each stage and the status of on-site management.

Mayor Park stated, "We will re-inspect flood control materials and safety equipment, and repeatedly check areas at risk of casualties and disaster-prone facilities to thoroughly prepare for natural disasters in the summer."
