The Dunpo Nonghyup and Yeongin Nonghyup in Asan, Chungnam, will integrate their individually operated Rice Processing Complexes (RPC) into a single corporation.
The city has been promoting this long-awaited project since 2008 to strengthen the high-quality competitiveness of 'Asan Malgeunssal' and ensure the sustainable development of the grain industry.
As a result, on the 8th, a 'Unified RPC Promotion Business Agreement' was signed at the large conference room on the second floor of Dunpo Nonghyup Hanaro Mart, with Asan Mayor Park Kyunggui, Shin Jinsik, head of the Asan branch of the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation, and the heads of Dunpo and Yeongin Nonghyup in attendance.
According to the agreement, approval for the establishment of the corporation will be obtained from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs by October, and the unified RPC will be launched on January 1, 2025.
The city expects that the launch of the unified RPC will enhance the brand power and market competitiveness of 'Asan Malgeunssal' through the unification of sales channels, integrated marketing, and revitalized distribution.
At the inaugural general meeting of the 'Asan City Nonghyup Rice Cooperative Joint Business Corporation,' which followed the business agreement, the appointment of the CEO, election of executives, and approval of the articles of incorporation and business plan for the integrated corporation were finalized.
Mayor Park Kyunggui said, "The smooth progress of the RPC integration, which began in 2008, was possible thanks to the mutual concessions and consideration between Dunpo and Yeongin Nonghyup. Moving forward, we will actively support the modernization of aging milling facilities so that high-quality 'Asan Malgeunssal' can expand globally and substantially increase the income of our farmers."
