Affordable Food and Various Cultural Performances Unfold
Muan County, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim San) announced on the 9th that the Hwangtogol Night Market at Muan Traditional Market officially opened with an opening ceremony on the 6th.
The opening ceremony was attended by a large number of dignitaries including Governor Kim San, Lee Ho-sung, Chairman of the County Council, Jeong Gil-su and Na Gwang-guk, members of the Provincial Assembly, Lim Hyun-soo, Chairman of the Council Operations Planning Committee, and Han Seung-joo, President of the Jeonnam Merchants Association.
More than 700 people, including local residents and visitors from other regions, flocked to the market, filling it with lively energy.

The event began with a paper airplane performance wishing for the revitalization of Muan Traditional Market and opposition to the relocation of Gwangju Combat Airfield to Muan, followed by performances by the Mogabi Band, South American musical instrument performances, and singer Min Su-yeon.
Additionally, about 40 diverse merchants participated, including a flea market and food trucks, offering a variety of foods such as fried chicken, fermented skate, jokbal (pig’s trotters), buchimgae (Korean pancakes), and local traditional liquors.
The Hwangtogol Saturday Night Market will be held for 11 weeks until September 15, with various cultural events and popular food spots scheduled every weekend.
Especially on July 20 and at the end of August, the Namdo Market Touring Group will visit, featuring various cultural performances such as Dongdong Gurumu, Sotdae riding, tightrope walking, and busking.
Governor Kim San said, “Let’s enjoy ourselves at the Hwangtogol Saturday Night Market and blow away the stress of the week,” adding, “We will work hard to make Muan Traditional Market a place where all families can enjoy together.”
The Hwangtogol Night Market is expected to contribute to the revitalization of the local commercial district and provide enjoyable times for residents and tourists through various cultural events and food offerings.
