DGIST (President Lee Geonwoo) is recruiting trainees for the ‘Fragrance Industry Expert Training Program’ until the 17th.

This program, conducted as part of the ‘University-Focused Research Institute Support Project,’ aims to innovate the region’s traditional industries through fragrance convergence technology and to revitalize the local economy and boost population vitality by encouraging youth entrepreneurship. Supported by the Ministry of Education and Daegu City, the program will offer more advanced educational content and a variety of benefits based on last year’s successful operation.

This training course benchmarks France’s ‘Fragrance Industry Professional Training Program,’ which is at the heart of the global fragrance industry, and features a diverse curriculum including fragrance marketing, basic chemistry related to fragrance substances, and fundamentals of neuroscience related to olfaction. Professor Jeremie Topin, head of the Flavor & Fragrance program at Universite Cote d’Azur in Nice, France, and Dr. Jerome Golebiowski, a French fragrance industry expert, will visit Korea to participate directly in the training.

Moon Jeil, Director of the DGIST Olfactory Convergence Research Center, said, “Through the successful operation of last year’s training program, we confirmed the high expectations and demand from the local community,” and added, “This year, with more advanced education and the continued participation of French experts, we aim to nurture global talents who can lead the convergence trends of K-beauty and the fragrance industry.”

Director Moon also added, “We expect that the experts trained through this program will contribute to revitalizing the local economy through entrepreneurship and employment, and help Daegu emerge as a hub of the fragrance industry.”

The French experts also expressed their anticipation for shaping the future of the fragrance industry together with Korea’s outstanding talents. Their participation is expected to strengthen fragrance industry exchanges between Korea and France and greatly contribute to developing Daegu into an international fragrance industry city.

This year’s training program will be held at the Daegu Scale-Up Hub (DASH) in Dongdaegu Venture Valley, Daegu, improving accessibility for trainees from other regions. Applications can be submitted through the DGIST Olfactory Convergence Research Center website until the 17th.
