Lotte Mart and Lotte Super are launching new summer health food products such as Samgyetang and Jjimdak to mark Chobok (July 15), while also holding discount events.

According to Lotte Mart, recently, health foods for the Boknal season have become popular in the form of meal kits that are reasonably priced and easy to prepare. Among customers in their 20s and 30s, menus using chicken such as Jjimdak or Dakgalbi are more popular than Samgyetang, which is traditionally consumed for health purposes.

First, Lotte Mart is introducing new health food meal kits that are easy to cook for 1-2 person households: 'Nurungji Dakbaeksuk' and 'Dakhanmari Jangkalguksu.' Both products are home meal replacements (HMR) that only require putting them in a pot and boiling.

They also prepared reasonably priced retort pouch Samgyetang. This product secured a large quantity of young chicken, the main ingredient of Samgyetang, at the lowest market price between January and February, and Lotte Mart and Lotte Super jointly sourced it to reduce costs. As a result, the weight was increased by 300g compared to existing retort products, and it is offered at about 25% lower than the average selling price. The retort products are available in three types: 'Hanwoo Sagol Samgyetang,' 'Chicken Leg Samgyetang,' and 'Solo Samgyetang.'

For consumers who prefer chicken dishes other than Samgyetang, a promotion is also held for two types of seasoned grilled chicken made from domestic chicken leg meat. 'Andong-style Spicy Boneless Jjimdak (600g)' topped with dried chili peppers and 'Chuncheon-style Boneless Dakgalbi (600g)' with cabbage topping are offered at 9,900 won, a 3,000 won discount for L.Point members.

Fresh chicken products for Boknal chicken dishes are also discounted. The quantity of planned products consisting of two domestic fresh chickens has been increased by 20% compared to last year, and the representative product 'Two Chickens Bokdak (1.1kg)' will be offered at a 40% discount when paying with event cards from the 13th to the 15th. According to Lotte Mart, sales of two-chicken products increased by more than 20% year-on-year from July to mid-August last year.

Additionally, a native chicken product about 1.5 times larger than regular chicken, 'Boknal Native Chicken (1050g),' will be introduced. This product consists of one large native chicken, offering a generous amount suitable for families. Furthermore, on the 11th, the 'Premium Haesintang (1.2kg, refrigerated)' will be launched. It contains various health food ingredients such as abalone, chicken, octopus, small octopus, blue crab, and medicinal herbs. To celebrate the launch of the premium Haesintang, Lotte Mart will sell it at 29,900 won with a 5,000 won discount for L.Point members from the 11th to the 17th.

Lee Geun-woo, MD (Merchandiser) of the Livestock Team at Lotte Mart and Super, said, "We have prepared various health food discount events tailored to customers' tastes in line with recent Boknal trends. We hope customers overcome the heat with the health foods prepared by Lotte Mart and Super for the upcoming Chobok, and we will continue to strive to introduce products that quickly respond to trends in the future."
