Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism Holds Launch Ceremony for 'K-Copyright Guardians' to Raise Protection Awareness

'Copyright Protection, Right Now' Campaign and More Initiatives

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Copyright Protection Agency will hold the launch ceremony of the 'K-Copyright Guardians' on the 8th at the Modu Arts Theater in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul. They will carry out various activities to raise public awareness of copyright protection, including the 'Protect Copyright, Right Now' campaign with content users, creators, and the industry. The launch ceremony marks the beginning of this effort. It aims to spread a culture of respecting copyright by paying the proper price for content use while eradicating illegal distribution.

The K-Copyright Guardians consist of fifty university students who actively consume content, creators in video, music, and webtoons, and thirty-seven content production and distribution companies. They will produce promotional content for copyright protection and raise awareness through various promotional channels such as social networking services (SNS). Additionally, they will monitor illegal distribution content in blind spots such as SNS and various communities, and report copyright infringement cases to the national copyright infringement reporting site if discovered.

Yoo In-chon, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, stated, "A social atmosphere that regards the tolerance of illegal content distribution as abnormal is the foundation and strong shield that protects our content ecosystem," and added, "I hope the K-Copyright Guardians will take the lead in spreading a culture of respecting copyright and improving awareness of copyright protection."
