KOSPI Turns Weak Amid Selling Pressure from Institutions and Individuals

The KOSPI, which started higher, turned weaker during the session on the 8th due to selling pressure from institutions and individuals.


As of 10:30 a.m. that day, the KOSPI index stood at 2,860.95, down 1.28 points (-0.04%) from the previous trading day.


The index opened at 2,862.58, up 0.35 points (0.01%) from the previous day, but fluctuated around the flat line, dropping to 2,856.32 shortly after the opening.


In the KOSPI market, foreigners were net buyers with 145.2 billion KRW. On the other hand, institutions and individuals were net sellers of 126.5 billion KRW and 18 billion KRW, respectively.


Samsung Electronics maintained its strong performance from the previous day, trading up 0.46% at 87,500 KRW. Hyundai Motor (1.07%), LG Energy Solution (0.14%), and POSCO Holdings (0.80%) were also rising. Conversely, Samsung Biologics (-1.25%), Kia (-1.27%), KB Financial (-1.02%), Celltrion (-0.91%), and Shinhan Financial Group (-2.43%) were declining.


At the same time, the KOSDAQ index was up 7.14 points (0.85%) from the previous session, standing at 854.67.


The index opened at 848.59, up 1.10 points (0.13%) from the previous day, maintaining its upward trend.


In the KOSDAQ market, foreigners were net buyers with 28.7 billion KRW, lifting the index, while individuals and institutions were net sellers of 32.1 billion KRW and 2 billion KRW, respectively.


EcoPro BM (4.31%), EcoPro (7.83%), and HPSP (2.71%) showed strong gains, driving the index higher. Alteogen (0.18%), Rino Industrial (0.23%), and Classys (0.40%) were also rising. Meanwhile, Samchundang Pharm (-3.00%), Enchem (-1.30%), HLB (-0.86%), and Celltrion Pharm (-0.53%) were falling.
