Enka "100% Refund Including Delivery Fee for Flood-Damaged Cars"

'Enka Mitgo' Service Available for Customers Using Purchase Option

Encar.com will implement a policy that refunds 100% of the vehicle purchase price, transfer fees, and delivery charges if a used car purchased through the platform is determined to be a flood-damaged vehicle.

On the 8th, the automotive trading platform Encar.com announced that it will operate this flood-damage liability refund program for customers using the 'Encar Midgeo' service.

Encar Midgeo is a service that supports the direct purchase process for vehicles diagnosed and verified by Encar among general dealer listings. When using Encar Midgeo, customers can choose their preferred purchase method from ▲ trusted delivery ▲ trusted visit ▲ trusted video consultation. Additionally, a '7-day liability refund system' is provided, allowing customers to test drive and decide on the purchase within 7 days.

Consumers who purchase a used car through Encar Midgeo can receive a 100% refund of the vehicle price, transfer fees, service fees, and delivery charges if the vehicle is determined to be flood-damaged within 90 days after purchase. This process is carried out if the vehicle is confirmed to have a flood history different from the vehicle history at the time of purchase within 90 days after buying the car.

Flood history can be checked by looking up the vehicle number on the Car History service provided by the Korea Insurance Development Institute. However, if the insurance claim was not processed, it may be difficult to confirm, so caution is advised. In such cases, the Automobile 365 service can be used to check the vehicle’s maintenance schedule and history to consider the possibility of flood damage.

When inspecting the car directly, checking for signs such as replacement traces on the ECU (Electronic Control Unit) and wiring inside the engine room, mud traces and corrosion on the trunk floor and fuse box, presence of foreign substances like mud or mold when pulling the seatbelt all the way out, and unpleasant odors when operating the air conditioner can help determine flood damage. Sometimes, seatbelts are replaced with new ones after flooding, so comparing the manufacturing date on the lower part of the seatbelt with the vehicle’s model year is also recommended.

An Encar.com official stated, "To alleviate concerns about purchasing flood-damaged vehicles, we are operating a liability refund program for customers using 'Encar Midgeo,' where Encar directly supports used car purchases." They added, "Encar.com will continue to make various efforts under the customer-first principle to ensure safe and reliable used car transactions."
