The event was attended by Philippe Bertoux, the French Ambassador to Korea, Yoon Joo-seok, Director of the Consular Safety Bureau at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and others. The National Police Agency will dispatch a total of 31 personnel, including 28 members of the Korea-France on-site safety support patrol team, 2 staff to the temporary consular office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and 1 member to the International Cooperation Center (ICC) of the French Ministry of the Interior.

Earlier in February, the French government officially requested police forces from various countries to support safety activities to maintain security during the Olympics, and the Korean government decided to dispatch police officers. The safety support team will wear the Republic of Korea police uniforms and patrol inside and outside the venues during the Olympic and Paralympic periods.

Yoon Hee-geun, Commissioner of the National Police Agency, stated, “We hope to contribute to ensuring that the Olympics, a festival for people around the world, are held peacefully and safely, to widely promote the excellence of the Korean police globally, and to pay special attention to the safety of our police officers.”
