Award Winners to Be Announced This November
Samsung C&T Fashion Division's Samsung Fashion Design Fund (SFDF) announced on the 8th that it is accepting applications for the 20th SFDF Award-winning designers until the 24th.
Since its establishment in 2005 by Samsung C&T Fashion Division, SFDF has been the nation's premier fashion designer support program held annually. Marking its 20th year this year, SFDF has discovered a total of 27 Korean designer teams gaining attention in the global market and supported their growth by providing approximately 4.5 billion KRW to expand the global influence of K-fashion.
The award-winning designer (1 team) will receive $100,000 (about 130 million KRW) to support their design creative activities. They will also have the opportunity to exhibit their collection at the flagship store of BEAKER, a leading domestic select shop under Culture Blending Union. The other 4 finalist teams will each receive a support fund of 10 million KRW.
Eligibility for SFDF includes Korean emerging fashion designers who participate in overseas collections or have overseas sales records. They must operate an independent brand launched within the last 5 years, with no restrictions on age or educational background. Applications can be submitted online or via mobile through the official SFDF website.
Judging will be conducted by internal and external fashion industry experts, including the design director of Samsung C&T Fashion Division and editors-in-chief of major domestic fashion magazines. After reviewing submitted materials such as brand information, designer introductions, lookbooks, samples, and videos, the final winners will be announced in November.
Choi Myung-gu, SFDF Secretariat Director, said, “As the reputation of K-fashion continues to rise, global interest in Korean emerging fashion designers is increasing. Having operated SFDF unwaveringly for 20 years and dedicated to discovering designers with growth potential and distinct identities, we will continue to take a responsible stance in leading the elevation of K-fashion’s status.”
