US Democratic Congressman Says "Both Biden and Trump Should Undergo Cognitive Tests"

Adam Schiff, Member of the U.S. House of Representatives
"The Candidacy Should Be Passed to the Person Who Will Achieve an Overwhelming Victory"

U.S. President Joe Biden is once again facing calls within the Democratic Party to undergo a cognitive test to dispel concerns about his advanced age.

On the 7th (local time), Representative Adam Schiff (Democrat, California) said in an interview with NBC that when asked if he thought President Biden should take a cognitive test, "I want both the president and Donald Trump to take cognitive tests."

Rep. Schiff said, "I think both should be tested," adding, "If tested, it will be revealed that Trump has some serious illness." He continued, "President Biden is running against a criminal, and there is no reason for this election to be close," asserting, "The only reason it is close is the president's age."

He also urged President Biden to give up his presidential bid.

He said, "President Biden should hand over the candidacy to someone who can win overwhelmingly or is capable of doing so." Regarding Vice President Kamala Harris, who is considered the most realistic alternative, he evaluated, "I think she can actually win overwhelmingly."

Rep. Schiff is a senior Democrat who has served as a federal representative from California since 2001. He is running for U.S. Senate in the upcoming November election.

Earlier, President Biden raised concerns about his advanced age and cognitive abilities during a TV debate held on the 27th of last month, where he was seen stuttering and staring into space. Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, also a Democrat, said on the 2nd, "Both candidates should undergo any tests related to their mental capacity and health."

However, on the 5th, President Biden declined the suggestion of an independent physical examination in an interview with ABC, saying, "I get a cognitive test every day through my work."
