Jang Se-ju, Chairman of Dongkuk Steel Group, "70 Years of History, A Time That Cannot Be Taken for Granted"

70th Anniversary Celebration Ceremony

Dongkuk Steel Group announced that its three split companies, Dongkuk Holdings, Dongkuk Steel, and Dongkuk CM, jointly held the ‘Dongkuk Steel Group 70th Anniversary Ceremony’ on the 5th at Ferrum Hall, Ferrum Tower, Euljiro, Jung-gu, Seoul, two days before the 70th anniversary of their founding.

All three companies?Dongkuk Holdings, Dongkuk Steel, and Dongkuk CM?inherit the founding spirit of their parent company Dongkuk Steel (currently Dongkuk Holdings) and celebrate July 7 as their founding anniversary. The event began with a viewing of the 70th anniversary commemorative video, followed by a congratulatory speech by Chairman Jang Se-ju of Dongkuk Steel Group and an award ceremony for long-term employees.

In his commemorative speech, Chairman Jang Se-ju said, “Seventy years of history is a time that cannot be taken for granted,” adding, “I recall my grandparents living and dining at the Dangsan-dong factory during the early days of the company, preparing meals for the employees. Memories flood my mind?from joining the planning office to prepare for the implementation of management philosophy, to the oil shock, the second founding, the introduction of direct current electric furnaces, and the acquisition of Union Steel.”

He continued, “This year marks not only the 70th anniversary of the company’s founding but also the inaugural year of the holding company system,” urging, “While each company enhances its expertise in an independent management environment, let us always recognize that we share the common values of ‘Dongkuk’ and communicate and harmonize with each other.”

He stated, “I am confident that the future of Dongkuk Steel Group will shine even brighter than the past 70 years if we are together with all of you who have always demonstrated capabilities beyond expectations in the face of crises,” and added, “Let us turn upcoming challenges into new opportunities for growth with the unique ‘Dongkuk’ DNA that all employees possess.”

To commemorate its 70th anniversary, Dongkuk Steel Group released a documentary titled ‘HOT RUN’ on YouTube. The video highlights the past and present created through the efforts of senior employees and the future to be built together. Dongkuk Steel Group also launched the ‘Dongkuk Steel Group Web History Museum,’ accessible through each company’s website.

On the same day, Dongkuk Steel Group conducted volunteer activities to celebrate the anniversary. Along with the headquarters, the Incheon, Pohang, Dangjin, and Busan business sites collaborated with local children’s centers and welfare centers to carry out external experiential activities.
