National Assembly Cancels Negotiation Group Leaders' Speeches on 8-9th... Aftershocks of Chae Sang-byeong Special Prosecutor Law Continue

The ruling and opposition parties canceled the planned parliamentary negotiation group leaders' speeches scheduled for the 8th and 9th.

On the morning of the 5th, Bae Jun-young, the senior deputy floor leader of the People Power Party, and Park Sung-joon, the senior deputy floor leader of the Democratic Party, announced that they had agreed on this matter.

Earlier, the ruling and opposition parties had planned to hold the National Assembly opening ceremony at 10 a.m. on the day the July extraordinary session began, and to have the Democratic Party's negotiation group leader's speech at 10 a.m. on the 8th. The People Power Party's negotiation group leader's speech was scheduled for the 9th.

The cancellation of the leaders' speeches is interpreted as a consequence of the aftermath of the special prosecution law on Chae Sang-byeong, which was passed the previous day under the opposition party's initiative. The opening ceremony of the 22nd National Assembly, which was also scheduled for that day, has been canceled as well.
