Department of Emergency Medical Technology at Dongmyung University Provides Medical Support for Busan Mayor's International Surfing and SUP Competition

Preparing for Emergencies with Coast Guard and 119 Rescue Teams

The Department of Emergency Medical Technology at Dongmyung University (President Jeon Ho-hwan) provided medical support for the 15th Busan Mayor's Cup International Surfing and SUP Competition, which was held over two days on the 29th and 30th of last month.

The participating students provided first aid for injuries sustained by the athletes and assisted in ensuring the safe progress of the competition.

On the 30th, with a high wave warning issued and large waves occurring, the students collaborated with relevant organizations such as the Coast Guard, 119 Water Rescue Team, and Songjeong Surfing Rescue Team to establish plans and prepare for rescue and emergency care. Fortunately, the event concluded without any major incidents, but the thorough preparation and response of the emergency medical technology students stood out.

One student from the Department of Emergency Medical Technology said, "I was very nervous since it was my first time practicing in the field, but thanks to the guidance of my professors and competition officials, I was able to do well," and added, "I want to become an emergency medical technician who can help many people."

Kim Sungju, the head of the department, said, "It was a great opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience and improve their ability to respond to emergencies," and added, "We will continue to support them so they can grow into more competent emergency medical professionals through various field training opportunities."
