During the 10th Kyochon 1991 Ladies Open, which was held at Sunsan Country Club in Gumi last May, Kyochon operated the 'Kyochon 1991 Donation Zone' (where 500,000 KRW was accumulated each time a player's tee shot landed in a designated donation zone on a specific hole) to raise funds for local youth athletes.

This scholarship was awarded to 13 elementary, middle, and high school sports dreamers in Gumi, specializing in swimming, track and field, judo, and other sports, who were selected by the Gumi Office of Education and the Gumi Sports Council. Each recipient received 1.5 million KRW.

Gumi is where 'Kyochon Tongdak,' the origin of Kyochon Chicken, first opened in 1991. Through this special connection, the city and Kyochon are pursuing various collaborative projects.

As part of a project to turn the first Kyochon Tongdak store in Songjeong-dong into a local landmark, Gumi is creating public design-based guide signs, sculptures, murals, photo zones, media walls, and more along the 300-meter stretch from the Gumi Intercity Bus Terminal intersection to the first Kyochon store. The city and Kyochon are also cooperating on local projects such as developing menus using local specialties, supporting sports activities, scholarship funds, and regional festivals.

Mayor Kim Jangho said, "On behalf of the citizens and the sports community, I would like to express my gratitude to Kyochon for supporting scholarships so that local sports prospects can pursue even greater dreams," and added, "Gumi City and Kyochon will continue to work together on various collaborative activities to ensure mutual growth between the region and the company."
