Supreme Prosecutors' Office Initiates Inspection and Requests Suspension of Duties
A current prosecutor in his 30s was indicted for drinking and driving again less than two weeks after refusing a breathalyzer test.
According to Hankook Ilbo, the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office indicted prosecutor A last month on the 14th without detention on charges of drunk driving and refusal to take a breathalyzer test (violation of the Road Traffic Act), the report said on the 4th.
A, who belongs to the Southern District Prosecutors' Office, is accused of causing an accident by crashing into a traffic light while driving in Mokdong, Yangcheon-gu, Seoul on April 24. At that time, the police's breathalyzer test showed his blood alcohol concentration was between 0.03% and 0.08%, which is the level for license suspension.
On the 13th of the same month, A was caught in a drunk driving crackdown in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, and was once investigated by the Yeongdeungpo Police Station for refusing to take a breathalyzer test.
It was also reported that A refused a blood test by the police at that time. As the current prosecutor was involved in drunk driving incidents twice in less than two weeks, the Supreme Prosecutors' Office launched an inspection of A and requested the Ministry of Justice to suspend his duties.
