Choo Kyung-ho, the floor leader of the People Power Party, stated on the 4th, "I officially declare my absence from the opening ceremony of the 22nd National Assembly."
After attending the 'National Assembly Speaker and Judiciary Terror Condemnation Rally' held at the National Assembly Rotunda Hall that day, Floor Leader Choo told reporters, "Without reflection from the Democratic Party of Korea, which has turned the National Assembly into a 'stage of intimidation' as if taking out frustrations on it, and the Speaker of the National Assembly, I cannot participate in the opening ceremony of the 22nd National Assembly."
He criticized, "In the reality where the rule of law is shaken by the attempt to impeach the prosecutor investigating former Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung, and the National Assembly is being destroyed by a unilateral agenda without bipartisan agreement, the opening ceremony of the National Assembly has no meaning or value."
Floor Leader Choo also requested President Yoon Suk-yeol to refuse attendance at the opening ceremony. He said, "We do not want to invite the president to an opening ceremony without the ruling party," and added, "The ruling party requests that the president not attend the National Assembly opening ceremony."
