"I Couldn't Leave the House Because My Heart Raced from the Insults"
Yeongsuk (a pseudonym), a contestant from the 16th season of the entertainment program 'I Am Solo,' strongly criticized Nam Gyu-hong PD, the director of the show. PD Nam is also the CEO of Chonjang Entertainment, the production company of the program.
On the 2nd, Yeongsuk shared behind-the-scenes stories from the recording of I Am Solo through her social media account. She said, "My footage was used and manipulated without my consent," adding, "They framed me as a crazy woman. Because of malicious comments and all kinds of abusive language, my heart was pounding so much that I couldn't leave the house."
On the same day, Sports Seoul exclusively reported that all the writers responsible for producing I Am Solo recently resigned. It was also reported that the main writer, an original member who had been with the show since its launch in 2021, submitted their resignation.
Additionally, it was revealed that the writers were not provided with a standard contract, which is the basis for receiving rebroadcast fees. Due to this, the Broadcast Writers Union recently filed a complaint with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism against Chonjang Entertainment for breach of written contract and violation of writers' rights.
Referring to the report, Yeongsuk claimed, "With a meager appearance fee of only 4 million won, they pushed a mother of a child to the brink of death and generated profits as if trying to kill her," and strongly criticized, "I thought it would end with me, but they continued to produce such trashy shows that cause many ordinary people to be harshly criticized."
She added, "Could they have done that even if it were their own daughter? My heart still pounds and I cry," and said, "They are now reaping what they have sown."
Yeongsuk appeared on the 16th season of I Am Solo and formed a love line with Sangcheol (a pseudonym). In November of last year, Yeongsuk filed a complaint against Sangcheol for violating the Information and Communications Network Act (defamation), claiming that Sangcheol sent her sexual messages via social media and other platforms.
The 16th season of I Am Solo recorded high viewership ratings throughout its broadcast and became a hot topic, but conflicts among some contestants arose after the show ended.
