Yongsan-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Park Hee-young) offers various indoor activities for residents to enjoy during the hot summer, including performances, craft experiences, and exhibitions.


A Popera Feast ‘My Heart’s Yongsan’


On the 19th of this month at 7:30 PM, the popera performance ‘My Heart’s Yongsan’ will be held at Yongsan Art Hall Mir. Admission is free on a first-come, first-served basis. The performance features tenor Jang Jin-ho along with the popera group ‘Cardio,’ composed of four Phantom Singer cast members, and popera soprano Jung Ha-eun.


This year, the Trinity Philharmonic Orchestra, the resident ensemble of Yongsan District Office’s performance hall, and its principal guest conductor Ryu Sung-kyu are highly anticipated.


Yongsan Craft Center ‘Tradition, Something Modern’


From the 11th to the 21st of this month, the 4th-floor exhibition hall of Yongsan Craft Center will host a special exhibition titled ‘Tradition, Something Modern.’ The exhibition features artists ‘-East (Lee Jung-soon, Kim Sun-hee).’ Both artists are jewelry designers who will present works that are both glamorous and charming.


Yongsan Craft Center holds rental exhibitions annually from June to August to support craft artists. Selected artists through regular announcements receive benefits such as a 50% discount on rental fees and the production and installation of joint outdoor banners.


Following this, the August rental exhibitions will include ‘Beautiful Colored Fired Cloisonn? Art Research Society Exhibition’ and ‘The 1st Korea-Japan Friendship Exhibition: Friendship Craft Exhibition.’ Yongsan Craft Center is located near Exit 3 of Hangangjin Station.

Yongsan History Museum ‘School of Yongsan_Schools Rooted in Yongsan’


The Yongsan History Museum is holding a special exhibition related to schools located in Yongsan until September 6th this year. The exhibition covers various topics such as the beginning of modern education in Korea, schools gathered in Yongsan, and notable alumni who brought honor to Yongsan. The museum operates from Tuesday to Sunday, 10 AM to 6 PM, and is located near Sinyongsan Station.


Yongsan Craft Center Summer Semester Regular Courses and One-Day Experiences Open


Yongsan Craft Center has prepared summer semester courses from the 26th of last month until September 1st. There are various courses matching the latest craft trends such as metal objects and upcycled items.


The courses cover nine fields: △Leather △Woodworking △Knots & Hanbok Costume △Metal Craft △Eco △Paper (Minhwa, Hanji, Paper Art) △Cloisonn? △Textiles (Embroidery, Mangsou) △Ceramics. There are a total of 38 regular courses and 41 one-day experiences. Any resident interested in traditional crafts can apply. Yongsan History Museum Early Childhood Group Program ‘Jaejaljaejal, Yongsan Theater’ Operation


The Yongsan History Museum operates a puppet show program called ‘Jaejaljaejal, Yongsan Theater’ to help children perceive the museum as a friendly space and foster interest in Korean history and culture. The program started last month and will be held on the 5th and 12th of this month for early childhood group institutions. ‘Jaejaljaejal, Yongsan Theater’ is a puppet show adapted from the Yongsan History Museum’s historical fairy tale picture book ‘The Truth of the Rice Sack.’
