The Korea Workers' Compensation and Welfare Service announced on the 3rd that industrial accident survivor compensation was approved for the first time and benefits were paid to the family of one worker who died in the fire accident at the Arisel factory in Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi Province, which occurred on the 24th of last month.

Among the 23 deceased workers in the accident, the Service approved the survivor benefit application submitted by the family of one deceased worker around 5 p.m. on the same day and paid the first month's survivor pension.
Normally, approval of survivor benefit applications for deceased workers is processed within 10 days from the application date, but this time, the Service explained that it was processed promptly immediately upon application.
Among the 8 injured workers, industrial accident approval has been granted for 6, and treatment and leave benefits are being provided.
The Service stated that it is operating the "Hwaseong Fire Accident Rapid Compensation Task Force (TF)" since the accident and plans to continue processing and approving industrial accident applications quickly in the future.
