Jeonbuk Province, Korea-China-Japan Young Farmers Exchange for Agricultural Development

Sharing Agricultural Policies of Three Countries... Linked with Korea National University of Agriculture and Fisheries Academy

Youth farmers from Korea, China, and Japan gathered in Jeonbuk to share excellent cases from each country and reaffirm their commitment to cooperative exchange for the future development of agriculture.


According to Jeonbuk Province on the 3rd, in collaboration with the Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS) of Korea, China, and Japan, the "Korea-China-Japan Youth Farmer Leaders Training Program" was held over 3 nights and 4 days from the 2nd to the 5th across the province.


This training program focused on youth agriculture. About 100 participants including officials from the ministries of agriculture and forestry of Korea, China, and Japan, representatives of youth farmers from each country, and students from the Korea National University of Agriculture and Fisheries participated. They exchanged opinions on sustainable future agriculture.

The opening ceremony was held on the 3rd at the International Conference Hall of the National Intangible Heritage Center. Officials from the agricultural departments of the three countries attended, and major agricultural policies of each country were presented. ▲ From Korea’s Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, the Director General of International Cooperation presented "Development of Smart Agriculture and Policies to Ease Industrial Barriers" ▲ Japan’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries presented "Technical Issues in Japanese Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries" ▲ China’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs presented "China’s Smart Agriculture Policies and Future Innovation Cooperation." The importance of international cooperation and each country’s agricultural policies were shared during this time.


Next, Choi Jae-yong, Director of the Agricultural Life and Livestock Industry Bureau of Jeonbuk Province, introduced "Jeonbuk’s Agricultural Life Industry Policy Aiming to Become the Capital of Korea’s Agricultural Life Industry." Tang Shengyao, Director of the FAO Korea Office, also gave a special presentation titled "Mid- to Long-Term Strategies Responding to the Food Security Crisis." Additionally, youth farmers from Jeonbuk such as Timpa-meo and Tochamjal, along with youth farmers from the three countries, exchanged diverse opinions on agricultural development plans and exchanges, creating a valuable time.


Starting with the opening ceremony on the 3rd, they visited the Gimje Smart Farm Innovation Valley, Imsil Cheese Theme Park, and Sunchang Gochujang Village respectively. They shared valuable experiences with related personnel and continued discussions. The program was enriched by linking with the Korea National University of Agriculture and Fisheries Agricultural Academy.


Kim Jong-hoon, Deputy Governor for Economic Affairs, said, "Jeonbuk Province has set youth farm startups as its first strategic task to realize the capital of Korea’s agricultural life industry and is implementing various support projects to foster youth farmers," adding, "I hope youth farmers will continue to exchange and cooperate to enhance the competitiveness and development of agriculture and rural areas."


Tang Shengyao, Director of the FAO Korea Office, said, "This event was an opportunity for Korea-China-Japan youth farmers to once again realize the importance of sharing each other’s experiences and knowledge," adding, "Jeonbuk’s agricultural innovation cases will greatly help the agricultural development of each country."


Meanwhile, Jeonbuk Province plans to continue closely cooperating with international organizations such as TCS and FAO and build cooperative relationships in various fields.
