Gwangju Shinsegae's Blockcore (soccer uniforms worn in everyday life) is gaining popularity.
As interest in European professional soccer grows, the blockcore trend of wearing soccer uniforms as casual wear is emerging. In response, Football Standard, which held a pop-up store at Shinsegae Department Store Gangnam Branch, has been steadily receiving positive feedback since its first opening at Gwangju Shinsegae last April.
Football Standard has official license agreements with leading European professional soccer teams such as Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City, Arsenal FC, and Paris Saint-Germain, offering official uniforms.
Among them, the most popular products are the short-sleeve T-shirt (69,000 KRW) and PK T-shirt (89,000 KRW) marked with ‘No.7 SON’, symbolizing Tottenham’s Son Heung-min.
All prepared stock was sold out immediately after the store opened, and even after receiving additional stock, some items sold out again, but they are currently available for purchase. Football Standard is offering up to 30% discount on almost all items except some products until the 30th.
There is also a promotion providing tumblers to customers who purchase over 200,000 KRW.
Along with Football Standard, the brand ‘Goal Studio’ is gaining attention as the blockcore trend spreads. Goal Studio, which opened on the first floor of the new building of Gwangju Shinsegae last March, actively promotes the brand with Hwang Hee-chan, a forward playing for the English Premier League’s Wolverhampton Wanderers, as its ambassador.
In addition to the GOAL X XEVA uniform created in collaboration with Jeva, a leading graffiti artist in Korea, Goal Studio offers comfortable short-sleeve T-shirts suitable for everyday use.
Moreover, Goal Studio released a limited edition season uniform for T1, the League of Legends esports team for which it is an official partner. The 2024 T1 uniform jacket and jersey available at Gwangju Shinsegae Goal Studio are priced at 149,000 KRW and 119,000 KRW respectively.
Lee Jeong-il, team leader of the new building at Gwangju Shinsegae, said, “As interest in soccer increases, the blockcore trend of wearing soccer uniforms in daily life is gaining attention. We hope you will check out various blockcore brands such as Football Standard and Goal Studio at Gwangju Shinsegae.”
