From Sindae 2-ri Village Hall to Pyeongtaek Port Marine Center
Distance 22.2 km... Estimated time about 7 hours
The Gyeonggi Dullegil ‘Pyeongtaek Course 45’ is a route that starts from the Shindae 2-ri Village Hall, passes through Pyeongtaek International Bridge, Pyeongtaekho Theater, and Jangsu-ri Village Hall, and arrives at the Pyeongtaek Port Marine Center. The length is 22.2 km, and the estimated time required is about 7 hours. The difficulty level is ‘very easy.’ On this section, you can see the appearance of Pyeongtaek, which is emerging as an Asian business hub.
Start by stamping at the Shindae 2-ri Village Hall and set off. The stamp features the Pyeongtaek International Bridge. The Pyeongtaek International Bridge is a 1.35 km long and 27 m wide bridge crossing Pyeongtaekho between Hyundeok-myeon and Paengseong-eup in Pyeongtaek City. In 2017, during construction using the ILM method with hydraulic jacks to move the deck onto the piers, an accident occurred causing a collapse, but after reconstruction, it opened in 2020.
Once you leave the Shindae 2-ri Village Hall and start walking, you will soon be on top of the Pyeongtaek International Bridge. Following the safe pedestrian path, cross the bridge and descend to the Pyeongtaekho lakeside. Then, move your steps toward the low Maansan Mountain. After passing through about 2 km of forest trails, you will reach the Daean 4-ri village. Passing through farmland roads and meeting the Pyeongtaekho lakeside again, you can see the wide Pyeongtaekho.
Within the tourist complex developed along Pyeongtaekho, various installations are set up as photo zones. At night, lights illuminate the area, creating a romantic atmosphere. Pyeongtaekho is a 24 km² artificial freshwater lake created by the construction of the Asan Bay Barrage. By blocking the mouth of the Anseongcheon River, it helps prevent disasters such as floods, droughts, tidal salt damage from the West Sea, and coastal erosion. It is also famous as a fishing spot. The tourist complex includes performance halls and walking trails such as the Korean Sound Center commemorating Ji Young-hee, a traditional Korean musician from Pyeongtaek. It is also nice to take a slow walk while gazing at Pyeongtaekho.
Passing under the Seohae Bridge, you will reach the destination of this course, the Pyeongtaek Port Marine Center. From the observatory here, you can take photos with Pyeongtaek Port and Seohae Bridge in the background. The arrival stamp available at the Pyeongtaek Port Marine Center features a picture of the Pyeongtaekho tourist complex.
