Namdong-gu, Incheon announced on the 3rd that starting this year, it will completely abolish the income criteria for medical expense support for premature and congenital anomaly infants, thereby expanding the support targets.
This program provides support up to 10 million KRW without income criteria for premature infants (infants born before 37 weeks of pregnancy or infants weighing less than 2.5 kg at birth) who require urgent surgery or treatment and are admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit within 24 hours after birth.
Additionally, infants diagnosed with congenital anomalies within 2 years after birth who are hospitalized and undergo surgery for treatment are also supported up to 5 million KRW.
Furthermore, the district is promoting various maternal and child health projects such as support for congenital metabolic disorder screening costs, management of patients with congenital metabolic disorders, congenital hearing loss screening, and hearing aid support to provide preventive health care for infants and young children.
Park Jong-hyo, the district mayor, said, "We will reduce the economic burden on families giving birth by early detection of congenital health risk factors in infants and young children and supporting the related medical expenses," adding, "We will continue to create an environment that is good for having and raising children."
