Gyeonggi Province is conducting safety inspections on demolition sites in preparation for heavy rain.
Gyeonggi Province, ahead of the full-scale rainy season, formed a joint inspection team with city and county officials and private experts to complete safety inspections of construction sites undergoing demolition within the province.
On the 3rd, Gyeonggi Province announced that it conducted joint inspections involving the province, city and county officials, and private experts, as well as independent inspections by city and county authorities, targeting 42 construction sites (367 buildings) in 8 areas including Suwon City that have received demolition permits for buildings.
The main inspection items included ▲ the appropriateness of management of pedestrian safety facilities, falling object protection and prevention nets ▲ the installation and deformation status of temporary facilities such as external scaffolding and construction fences ▲ securing drainage channels and management of sedimentation tanks and sewage pipelines.
Gyeonggi Province explained that the joint inspections identified a total of 19 issues across 9 construction sites, of which 6 have been resolved. Additionally, inspections of 33 construction sites subject to independent city and county checks have been completed, and any identified issues will be notified to the contractors before the rainy season.
A Gyeonggi Province official stated, "Demolition construction sites are vulnerable to heavy summer rains and typhoons, and safety management is as important as for new construction sites," adding, "We plan to conduct regular inspections going forward."
