Streaming platform SOOP announced on the 3rd that it has published an ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) report detailing its sustainable management achievements from last year.
SOOP's ESG report was first issued in 2021 and contains changes and achievements resulting from one year of ESG management practices.
In the Governance (G) sector, at the shareholders' meeting held last March, SOOP appointed its first female outside director, established an audit committee to prevent corruption and misconduct and to enhance the professionalism, reliability, and transparency of financial statements and disclosures, and included shareholder return policies such as treasury stock acquisition and dividends in its disclosures, thereby further strengthening its shareholder-friendly management stance.
In the Social (S) sector, SOOP was recognized by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family in December last year for its voluntary regulation efforts in the youth harmful media environment and received the 'Minister of Gender Equality and Family Commendation for Youth Protection Merit.' Additionally, it has been consecutively selected as a 'Family-Friendly Company' since 2020, systematically managing data security and privacy, achieving zero personal information leakage incidents over three years, and being selected as an excellent company for information protection investment, demonstrating remarkable achievements.
In the Environmental (E) sector, SOOP established an environmental management performance system across platform operations and business activities, including reducing energy use, promoting environmental campaigns, and producing eco-friendly content. Since 2014, it has conducted tree-planting volunteer activities annually on Arbor Day with its streamer volunteer group and participates in the Ministry of Environment-led 'Together GOGO Campaign' to create a sustainable office environment.
Jung Chan-yong, CEO of SOOP, stated, "SOOP aims to grow based on the values of communication and connection and to become a company that fulfills its social responsibilities," adding, "We recognize that our content reaches beyond Korea to the world, and we will expand the influence of our content in meaningful ways."
