Gyeonggi-do Operates Lifelong Education Program for 'Borderline Intellectual Disability' Gyeonggi Provincial Government

Gyeonggi Province is recruiting 400 participants on a first-come, first-served basis for a lifelong education program for people with borderline intellectual functioning and their families.

Borderline intellectual functioning refers to individuals who do not meet the criteria for intellectual disability but require support and protection due to difficulties in learning, peer relationships, daily life, and social adaptation caused by insufficient intellectual and cognitive abilities.

Gyeonggi Province will operate over 50 programs for participants, including ▲comprehensive psychological and intelligence testing ▲customized learning programs ▲cultural, artistic, and sports experiences ▲career exploration ▲self-help group family counseling and healing program support.

Any resident of Gyeonggi Province can participate in the program, and both diagnostic tests and programs are completely free of charge.

Jo Tae-hoon, Director of Lifelong Education at Gyeonggi Province, stated, "We will strive to provide more equitable opportunities so that people with borderline intellectual functioning, who are in the blind spots of education and welfare, can adapt to daily life and live healthy lives."
