Walking 110km Across Jeju... Daegu Catholic University Completes 'Walking with DCU' National Trek

First Began with the 100th Anniversary of School Founding in 2014

10 Sessions Held, Over 850 Participants Joined the Program

Students from Daegu Catholic University shared the news of completing the 110th anniversary commemorative ‘Walking with DCU’ cross-country trek across Jeju Island.

From June 18 to 24, over seven days and six nights, they trekked 110 kilometers across Jeju Island, starting from Sinchang Catholic Church and passing through Jagunae Port, Moseulpo, Daepyeong Port, Jungmun, Seogwipo, Namwon-eup, and Deokdol Port.


This journey included 55 students and 11 safety staff and supervisors, totaling 66 participants. Through this cross-country trek, they developed independence and perseverance, adopted a proactive and passionate mindset, and supported each other while sweating under the hot weather.


Im Hyunha, a senior in the Department of Speech and Hearing Therapy, said, “Through this trek, I was able to overcome my own limits and feel the joy of achieving a goal together with my peers. With this experience, I will take on future challenges with even more confidence.”


Daegu Catholic University launched the cross-country trek program in 2014 to commemorate its 100th anniversary, and so far, about 850 students have participated in 10 editions of the program. Last year, participants walked 230 kilometers along National Road No. 7 from Jeongdongjin Station in Gangneung to Wolpo Beach in Pohang, appreciating the value of the country and fostering a spirit of challenge.
