A graduate student who received marijuana jelly at a club and shared it with former colleagues has been indicted while in custody.
The Criminal Division 3 of the Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Kim Ji-yong) announced on the 2nd that Mr. A (26) was indicted in custody on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act.
According to the prosecution, Mr. A consumed some of the 20 marijuana jellies he obtained near a club in Mapo, Seoul, last December, provided some of the remainder to former colleagues in March, and is accused of storing the leftover marijuana jelly after providing it to them.
Prosecutors' investigation revealed that Mr. A, who studied abroad, received the marijuana jelly from an unidentified foreigner around the Mapo club area. The former colleagues who received the marijuana jelly are also overseas students, and they were indicted in custody at the Seoul Eastern District Court on May 7.
The prosecution stated, "We will do our best to ensure that Mr. A receives a sentence commensurate with the crime," and added, "We will strongly respond to drug crimes so that drugs cannot take root in our society."
